Update: KiteGen ready to set up the supply chain for the Saudi contract
The KiteGen® Group has been participated in April 2013 by Sabic Ventures – the venture company owned by Saudi Arabian Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) – and signed a 5 agreements contract including a 200 KiteGen Stem units purchase agreement. The Sabic kite farm will be located close to Jubail Industrial City, Saudi Arabia.
KiteGen has now reached the 8th technology readiness level and its technology package is as advanced as needed in order to transfer the technology to a supply chain and start the industrial production.
KiteGen® technology is the latest evolution of wind energy exploitation. It is a paradigm shift that may be the most practical and effective solution to the world’s energy needs. The Kitegen technology is based on a decade of research and development; it has presently reached the stage at which it will be implemented on an industrial scale. The main innovation is given by the fact that KiteGen can exploit a novel, powerful, endless and almost universally available source of energy: the high altitude wind power. Large wings tethered by strong polymeric ropes, driven by a high-tech control system based on avionic sensors, fly at high altitude, harvesting the energy of powerful winds, much faster and constant than those available near ground.
The Saudi kite farm will be the renewable energy cornerstone of a Saudi 66 billion $ program aiming to power projects as the region water desalinization and the Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) , the Saudi approach is to check the suitable RES technologies and KiteGen® is in pole position thanks the unprecedented net energy ratio of the fully owned exclusive concept outperforming, at least, tenfold any other renewable energy technology.
Technical notes on CCU
The CCU process compresses and purify the raw carbon dioxide coming from certain petrochemical plants. The purified gaseous CO2 is pipelined to a processing facility for enhanced methanol and urea production. Methanol is a basic commodity for the chemical industry and urea is used for fertilizer production. Massive quantities of renewable electrical energy at very low cost is needed to drive effectively those processes.
In summary, recovering 500,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions by CCU each year is equivalent to the removal of 2,6 millions of cars, representing the worldwide most advanced, reproducible and promising method to reverse the most harmful forcing over the global climate.
